The colors of the sky during a Krabi sunset are nothing short of extraordinary. As the sun dips below the limestone karsts, the Andaman Sea transforms into a canvas of gold, orange, and deep purple – a photographer’s dream come true.
Our large, stable boat is perfect for long-exposure shots of the ever-changing sky, while our close proximity to the towering cliffs offers you the chance to get up close and personal with Krabi’s famous above-water rock formations. Whether you’re a seasoned photographer with a professional camera or simply love snapping photos with your phone, a Krabi Sunset Cruise is the ideal way to capture incredible shots you’ll treasure forever.

Welcome aboard. Your adventure begins at the pier. Our friendly crew greets you and prepares the boat for departure. Take a moment to settle in, meet your guide, and get excited for the journey ahead.
Cruising and sightseeing
Arrive at the world-famous James Bond Island, made iconic by the movie The Man with the Golden Gun. You'll cruise around the island and enjoy sightseeing from the escort boat. Marvel at the dramatic limestone karst rising vertically from the emerald-green water — a perfect photo opportunity.
Explore caves and hongs
Arrive at Panak Island. Board your kayak and begin your paddle into hidden caves and collapsed cave systems known as hongs (meaning "rooms" in Thai). Explore 1-2 caves and hongs with your expert guide, gliding through narrow passages into secret lagoons surrounded by towering limestone walls.
Move to second island
Return to the escort boat after your Panak Island exploration. The boat will move to the next location in Phang Nga Bay.
Explore two more caves and hongs
Arrive at Ko Hong area. Explore two additional caves and hongs by kayak. These hidden lagoons are accessible only at certain tide levels, making each visit unique. Paddle through serene, mangrove-fringed waterways and marvel at the untouched natural beauty.
Time for a hands-on cultural experience. Create your own Kratong — a traditional Thai floating basket made of banana leaves, flowers, and candles. Then enjoy some self-paddle time and a refreshing swim in the calm waters of the bay.
Sunset dining
As the sun begins its slow descent behind the limestone karsts, a Thai buffet dinner is served on board. Watch the sky turn golden, then orange, then pink — one of the most beautiful sunsets you'll ever witness, surrounded by the dramatic scenery of Phang Nga Bay.
Float your Kratong & see bioluminescent plankton
As darkness falls, return to your kayak. This is the moment you've been waiting for. Light your Kratong and set it gently on the water. Watch as it drifts away, carrying your wishes. Then, look into the water — tiny bioluminescent plankton sparkle like glowing stars beneath your kayak with every paddle stroke. A magical, surreal experience you'll never forget.
Return to pier
Arrive back at Ao Po Grand Marina. Disembark and transfer to your waiting minivan.

A hong (Thai for "room") is a collapsed cave system that forms a hidden lagoon surrounded by limestone cliffs. These secret chambers are accessible only through narrow cave passages at certain tide levels. They are the highlight of the John Grey experience.
A Kratong is a traditional Thai floating basket made from banana leaves, flowers, a candle, and incense. Yes — you will make your own with guidance from your tour leader. It's a beautiful cultural activity, and floating it on the water under the stars is deeply meaningful.
Bioluminescent plankton are naturally occurring and visible most nights, especially in darker conditions with no moon. Sightings are not guaranteed, but the John Grey tour is famous for having one of the highest success rates in Phang Nga Bay due to their knowledge of timing and location.
Free cancellation is available up to 24 hours before the tour start time for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours or no-shows are non-refundable. In case of bad weather, the tour may be rescheduled or fully refunded.
Phang Nga Bay is protected from the worst monsoon winds, so John Grey's Sea Canoe operates year-round. However, the calmest seas are typically from November to April. The bioluminescent plankton are most visible during the darker moon phases — check the lunar calendar before booking.
